7 Basic Rules of Playing Table Games
There are many rules applicable to a table game. Many may be waived by the dealer or the card room personnel but there is a list of rules that must be adhered to. Here we are dealing with 7 Basic rules of playing table games.
A player must protect their hand of cards at all times. They must either hold the cards in their hand or place them face down on the table with a chip on top of them. Failure to cover a hand may lead to tampering. A card from a folded hand could enter the uncovered hand (cheating). If the dealer suspects this, then the hand can be “mucked”. Mucked that the suspect hand is forfeited and the cards placed face down with the discards. It is therefore in the interests of a player to protect their hand at all times.
Play In Turn
Players must play in turn. The normal direction of play is Clockwise. When a player plays out of turn, the action may be allowed if there is no bet, call or raise by the other players that should have played before the out of turn action.
Verbal declarations take precedence over non-verbal declarations. If a player simply places a bet without saying what he or she is doing then the action must be made in one single fluid action.
Non-Disclosure of Hand
When a player folds he or she must not allow other players see which cards they were holding. The folded cards must be placed face down on the table. Disclosure may alter the outcome of the game by influencing the other players.
No Foreign Languages
Foreign languages are not allowed at a table game. The only exception to this is if all players are fluent in the language. The reason for this is that players speaking in foreign languages may be suspected of cheating.
No Mobile Phones
Mobile phones that are switched on are not allowed at a table game under any circumstances. The dealer can instruct any player breaking this rule to immediately turn their telephone off. A mobile phone could be used to assist a player in cheating.
Profanity (swearing) is prohibited. Mild cursing will be allowed but the use of strong profanities will not be tolerated. Strong profanities directed at another player or players or at casino staff can result in the player being escorted from the premises.
Wonderful invention of the casinos in Las Vegas. They inscribe in it everybody, who was brave enough to cheat and win millions on that but later was caught red-handed, imprisoned and nobody wants to see him/her in the house.
